New York Life is a proud sponsor of the North Carolina Governor’s Conference for Women being held on November 9, 2010 at the Raleigh Convention Center New York Life is a company of firsts and has always been a supporter of women. In fact, New York Life was the first United States company to issue life insurance to women at the same rates as men. Susan B. Anthony, the 19th-century American social reformer, believed strongly that if women were to achieve political equality, they had to be financially independent. She was one of the first women to own an insurance policy, and her insurer was New York Life. Today, New York Life continues to be a leader and has won many awards for diversity including the 2010 NAFE Top 50 Companies for Executive Women by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE). The North Carolina Governor’s Conference for Women is an opportunity to share the strength of women in leadership with our community and New York Life supports this mission.
